Mr. George Anyebuno, Head of Division

The major function of the Food Chemistry and Nutrition Division is to give support to the commercialization activities of the Institute by offering analytical services to Industry, local and International students, as well as training for students. In addition, the Division conducts applied research relating to chemical contaminants (Toxicology and heavy metals) in foods and feeds as well as food flavour (aroma) analyses. The Division also offers consultancy services and advice to clients. The Division comprises three Sections, namely Chemistry Mycotoxin / Accreditation Section, Chemistry Analytical Services Section and Nutrition Research Section.

The Food Technology Research Division (FTRD) comprises of five operational sections as Equipment Design and Research Section, Food Product Sensory Section, Food Product Development Section, Management Information Systems Section, and Food Analytical Services Section.

The Food Microbiology and Mushroom Research Division (FMMRD) has the main task of undertaking research and development activities in food safety and quality assurance for the food industries in Ghana. The Division is made up of four Sections, namely the Microbiology Analytical Services Section, Microbiology Research Section, Microbiology Accreditation Section, and Mushroom Research Section. 

Food Research Institute is located Adjacent to Ghana Standards Authority, Near Gulf House, Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, Accra, Ghana. We are open to the general public from Monday to Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm, excluding holidays.
